Spring Baiting - October Top-Up
Okahukura Valley
Spring Bait Top-Up 9–11 October
Our October baiting weekend follows the same format as September, although bait loads are significantly lighter and not every bait line requires servicing.
Be part of one of our largest volunteer operations of the year as we service 958 bait stations throughout the Okahukura Valley.
Friday Evening
A safety briefing begins at 7.45 pm and is strongly recommended for all first-time volunteers. During the briefing you will:
- Meet your teammate (new volunteers are paired with experienced volunteers)
- Receive your line allocation
- Collect safety equipment
- Receive your allocated bait
Saturday
Volunteers depart in convoy from the lodge and travel approximately 14 km to the field base before heading to their assigned bait lines.
The working day generally runs from 7.30 am until approximately 3.30–4.00 pm.
With enough volunteers, all lines can be completed on Saturday. If required, remaining lines will be finished by those available to stay on Sunday.
Join Us
Whether you're an experienced volunteer or joining us for the first time, we'd love to have you involved. Training, support and guidance are provided, and newcomers are always paired with experienced volunteers.
