Track Clearing – Late July to Late August
Help us prepare the Okahukura Valley bait lines for the upcoming baiting season.
This mahi involves clearing and maintaining the existing bait lines to make them safe and easy to follow. Volunteers will use secateurs, loppers and pruning saws to remove obstacles such as bush lawyer, overhanging vegetation and trip hazards, while also checking and refreshing track markers and bait station labels where needed.
Please note: No chainsaw work is involved.
The programme is weather dependent. If conditions allow, we aim to complete the work during an extended block of fine weather. Otherwise, working bees will run over shorter 2–3 day periods throughout late July and August.
Depending on volunteer numbers, accommodation will be either at the Pureora Lodge or the Pureora Village Fire Station.
